It's time to start thinking about next year

This has been a great year for me. The second year of acting as President felt a little easier than the first year. Since several people have been encouraging me to stay on as President, I have decided that I will stay in this role for another year. (Unless someone else really wanted to have a chance to take a turn in this role)

The following postions are available:

-Program Coordinator: Gather ideas and suggestions from the membership and other sources.
Research the feasibility, timing, and cost of potential events. Work together with the executive to determine the funds available for paying speakers. Determine how many speakers to have in the year. Help plan meeting adgenda when there are no guest speakers.

-Treasurer: This position involves going to the bank and signing papers to have privleges to our bank account. It involves collecting dues from members. You will also be required to write cheques as necessary to pay for speakers etc. You will be required to keep records of transactions for the group account. You will be giving us updates on our account throughout the year at the CQ meetings. You will also need to arrange for insurance (CQA/ACC guild insurance plan- membership; liability; property) Provide annual budget for membership.  If you are interested in this role but have more questions before you volunteer, please ask Sue who has done this job for the past four years.

-Door Prizes: Within a given budget, purchase prizes. Give out tickets to people at the beginning of the meetings. Do the draw for the prizes at the meetings. Also do the name tag draw.

-Sharzees: Collect money at the meetings. Give tickets out to people. Count the money and divide it in half. Conduct the draw. Give the other half of the money to the treasurer.

We have 2-3 executive meetings per year.

Any one of these roles is a commitment. Some roles such as Program Coordinator are quite involved. The other members of the executive will try to help support you in your decisions, so that you do not feel like you are expected to make all of the decisions alone.

As president, I am hoping that we have people in our group that are eager to be a part of the executive team. I have found it rewarding to be a part of such a wonderful team, I look forward to working together with the new crew next year!
