Sew, Show ‘n’ Tell
Carolyn sent in a photo of a beautiful wall hanging quilt that she made. It looks like a bookshelf with
books and some family photos on it.
Vivian showed a nice colorful scrappy quilt that she made with 2 ½” pieces of fabric.
Faith showed a collage quilt that she is working on. It is a mama chimpanzee with a holding a baby
chimpanzee. She is kissing the baby chimps’ foot. The technique is using Aileen’s glue to put all the
pieces of fabric in place. The layers of fabric will be quilted after they are all in place. The technique
includes putting tracing paper on top of a photo and then tracing out the lines. This was enlarged at the
Copy Center in Langley. This is then traced onto fabric with a sharpie pen.
Susan described a method that she has learned using a projector to cast a pattern onto fabric. There is
no need to trace it out, just cut. She was wearing a sweater that she made using this technique.
Lynne gave a Brookswood update. An executive meeting was held on Feb 18th. The price for attending
Brookswood has now increased by $1 per day. This means the price per day is $6. Brookswood is looking
into getting an air conditioner for the upper hall. They are also looking into upgrading the lighting.
Brookswood last $15,000 a year during Covid closures. (Total $30,000) The name has changed to
‘Brookswood Seniors’. The membership fee remains $30 per year.
