Crescent Quilters meeting minutes
Location: Hybrid meeting—In person at Seniors Come Share, lower level, and Zoom meeting

Before the meeting commenced, (6:30pm-7pm) members signed in, had a social chat time.
The meeting commenced at 7pm. The meeting was chaired by our President Susan. Susan welcomed
everyone. Susan thanked Marette for arranging the program for the evening. Jean hosted the Zoom
meeting.
Bea, our treasurer reported that the bank balance remains unchanged.
Lynne, our Brookswood coordinator gave an update. The four days of sewing at Brookswood will be
March 31, April 1, April 2, April 3. There will be a limit of 12 people per day. The cost will be $6 per day.
Send Lynne an email if you wish to attend, and also let her know which days. If you sign up to attend and
then can’t make it, please let her know in advance. There may be a waiting list of people wanting to
attend.
Donna is still collecting community quilts to donate. She has collected several already. She will take
them all in later in the year. Let her know if you need batting or labels.
Debbie, our membership coordinator, was not present but did send the membership cards to be
distributed at the meeting.
Carolyn –Let her know if a member needs a little sunshine.
Sew, Show ‘n’ Tell
Gloria showed a blue and white quilt that she designed and made.
Bea showed a scrappy colorful quilt as you go quilt that she made. She also showed her Round Robin
quilt which was a Christmas theme.
Mary Jo showed two quilt tops. One quilt top was for a great niece who is turning one. It has cats. It is
black and white with some colors mixed in. One was a Jen Kingwell quilt containing aboriginal fabric. The
quilt is called “Busy body Delilah” which was beautifully hand pieced.
Elaine showed a community quilt that she made. It is purple, black, yellow and green. She also showed a
daffodil wall hanging made in 2020.
Helen showed two community quilts that she made. One is a scrappy red green and black quilt. One is
yellow and tan.
Jean showed squares that she has made for her next picture book.
Carole P. showed a quilt made with men’s ties. She also showed a large quilt for her grandson. Someone
gave her a partially completed Judy Niemeyer quilt which she converted into a slightly different design.
She also showed a red and white block that she made. She asked if people had matching fabric if they
could donate it to her so she could make more blocks.
Carolyn showed a brightly colored quilt that also contained white fabric that she made.
Sue showed her beautiful Gypsy Wife quilt done in black, white and colors. She also showed a beautiful
wall hanging quilt that she made of her great niece’s face. She also showed another wall hanging quilt
that is a “Beautiful day at the beach”.
Susan showed a mini blue and white quilt that she made for a dolly.
Faith showed two adorable, knitted animals that she made. They were a bunny and a pig.
Linda B. showed a quilt that contains squares from her mother. It is a community quilt that is multicolored. She showed a Orange, yellow and white quilt. It has a cute panel on the back with a bird in a
cage. She also showed a Blue/pink and dark grey quilt, a disappearing nine patch quilt and a quilt
containing man’s shirt material. She told us about a store in Montana where she bought 108” fabric. It is
called “Montana Long Arm and Quilt Supplies”
Karen showed a panel quilt that she made with animals and fireside backing. She also showed another
quilt with animals and fireside on the back.
Vivian showed a community quilt that she made. It is multi colored with black. She also showed paper
pieced flying geese on placemats.
Wendy showed knitted squares. She also showed paper pieced quilts x 2. She showed a very large quilt
with flowers. It contains some blocks that are up to 45 years old.
Program: Marette. She started with some stretching exercises. She read a story containing the words
left and right many times. Everyone had a paper bag containing a fat quarter of fabric. The bags were
passed to the left or right every time the words came up in the story. At the end each person could keep
a bag containing the fabric. (Some bags had I owe you notes in them). After the activity, people took
turns telling of and showing their favorite sewing tools/gadgets.
Sharzees were won by Susan.
Door prizes were won by Donna, Joan, and Karen.
