Crescent Quilters Mystery Quilt 2023/24 --By Diane B. September Instructions
I’m back! And here you thought that you were rid of me. Okay, actually I just missed doing the quilt, and since it’s no fun to design a mystery quilt when you are the only participant, I thought it would be nice to participate in the group long distance. I hope to see photos of your results. This quilt is especially easy – if your seams don’t always match, this is the quilt for you! Any of the fabrics could be used for the binding, or a completely different fabric. Finished size is 36” square, although it would be easy to make it a little larger by adding another border.
Fabric choice:
You will need 5 different fabrics for this quilt – 4 prints plus a background.
Fabric 1: Anything goes here! Make sure that there is sufficient contrast between the other fabrics, especially the background. Not necessary for high contrast – just enough to easily distinguish one fabric from another. This fabric can be a medium print, or smaller one. Squares of 6” will be used, so if it is a very large print, it may be difficult, but otherwise almost anything will work.
Fabrics 2, 3, and 4: Smaller size prints or solids. Again, just ensure a bit of contrast between all the fabrics.
Fabric 5 (background): Choose a lighter or darker fabric than your prints for the background in either a solid or a tone on tone.
Fabric requirements:
Fabric 1: .2 m
Fabric 2: .2 m
Fabric 3: .25 m
Fabric 4: .2 m
Fabric 5: .55m
