Minutes: Taken by and distributed by Gloria

The meeting was chaired by Susan M. She opened the meeting by welcoming everyone

and thanking them for coming. She had an ice breaker to start the evening. She asked that

every person introduce themselves and say what they have been working on lately. She

introduced the new members that just joined our group.

Gloria talked about the mystery quilt for this year. The instructions are being provided by

one of our former members, Diane B. The mystery quilt will be divided into four parts. The

first step was this month. The rest of the steps will be in October, November, and January.

Susan talked about the membership list. This year the list has the members names, phone

numbers and email address but not the address of where people live. The list of addresses

will be given to the Sunshine coordinator. This change was because of privacy concerns.

Marette ran the program for the evening. She revealed her plan to involve all the

members in the program planning for the year. There will be 10 meetings during the year.

December and June meetings are socials. There will be seven groups. Each group is

responsible for planning one meeting. She gave a handout outlining all seven teams and

who is in which team. If anyone wants to trade groups, they must find their own person to

trade with. Marette will not be involved with making trades. Each group got together for

half an hour to talk about plans for the meeting they will be responsible for. After half an

hour, the members went back to their original seats. There was a question and answer

period. Most questions were around booking speakers. Marette told the people that are

responsible for planning speakers to come up with a plan soon and get approval. There

were several questions about the cost of guest speakers, going over budget, and having a

speaker via Zoom. Once we know who we want, if they are available, how much they cost,

and what the other groups booking speakers are proposing, a decision will be made if

approval is needed to go over budget. We can only have a Zoom guest if the wiring has

been updated on the speakers, or if we can bring in our own sound system.

Financial report: Elaine reported that the bank balance is 3,999.92. Petty cash is 198.55.

Susan reported that insurance for this year will be approximately $800.

The December Christmas social will be held at Karen’s house. The gift exchange will be a

homemade item.

Monica: Brookswood days are next week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. There

are still some spots available. Let her know if you are able to attend. The fee is $10 per

day. You must be a Brookswood member to attend. If you are not a Brookswood member,

you may attend once before you become a member. The price is $30 per year. If you want

to join for the rest of 2023, the prorated price is now $10. Pay this to Crescent Quilters

and then Brookswood will be paid by Crescent Quilters.
