 Crescent Quilters’ Meeting Minutes – February 9, 2026

Meeting began with Gloria filling in for our president, Karen, who was unable to attend.  Gloria welcomed Boundary Bay members who were selling raffle tickets to support their club.   Nancy was called upon to introduce our guest speaker for the evening.

Presentation – WELCOME to MY PLAYGROUND

 “Chasing joy through playfulness, in this talk, Berene Campbell described her approach to pattern design and how she found happiness in quilting .  Experimenting with scale ( from teeny, tiny to giant), colour, texture, shapes, pattern repetition, typography and different quilting techniques, she has created her own style of inspiration, empowering and whimsical patterns.”

MEETING INFO:

1. Volunteers needed for the June 15th year-end windup at Karen’s club house.

2. Sharon had a signup sheet for members who brought in Beads of Courage bags for the draw in May.  This will carry forward to the next few meetings.

3. Gloria asked if the group was interested in a Facebook page.  Suggested that it must be private, a couple mentioned they would not take part, question as to who will run it?  

4. Looking for new members.  Please spread the word.

WORKSHOPS:

1, Sewing Day Saturday March 7th at Annette’s complex in Cloverdale in her clubhouse located at 16995 64 Ave.  Annettes’ phone #778-908-6063.  Attendance is free making shirts protectors to donate to Brella. Bring fabric, sewing machine, thread, scissors, pins, extension cord, lunch etc.

2. Workshop Saturday April 11th at Annette’s complex in Cloverdale

Cost is $15 and put on by Gloria.  Workshop is dealing with various ways to use your scraps.  She will show demos and some techniques will be practised.  You may keep what you make or turn it in to become part of a community quilt.  Bring all usual sewing supplies plus  extension cord.  Workshop is appropriate for all level of quilters.

GARAGE SALE – June 15th at luncheon.

Linda gave a handout to members regarding how the sale could run successfully and yet all members are free to shop even if they are selling items of their own.  Items must be quilt related, No polyester or free items.  Books, magazines, hoops, threads, in addition to cotton fabrics may be sold. 

Sellers: Items are placed in clear plastic bags with sellers info on envelope :name in top left corner,  item(s) sizes, and price in center.  Do not seal bags as buyer needs to have accessibility to the envelope in which their money will be placed.  Buyers, bring  your monied envelope to Linda’s “table” whereby envelopes will be sorted for handing out at the end of the ½ hour in which people collect their unsold fabric before money is distributed.

Buyers: (you can be seller also), have lots of toonies, loonies, and $5  as change will not be provided.
