Quilter’s Meeting Minutes – January 19, 2026

Meeting
began with a Happy New Year greeting by our president, Karen D. She thanked Karen B for hosting a most
successful and a fun X-mas party. At the
party, $110 was collected for the food bank.
Purdy’s chocolate sales raised $667.67 .
Meeting:
1.
Karen
wished Monika a speedy recovery from her recent surgery and reminded us, as
well, that January’s Brookswood Days are as follows:
Tuesday, January 27th, Wednesday, January 28th,
Thursday, January 29th from
9am to 4pm
Please let Monika know what days you would like to join. There is room for 15 quilters
February days are Tuesday and Wednesday, February 24th
and 25th.
2. Reminder to return Lisa S. Colour Quilt packages
at the February meeting.
3. Crescent Quilters now has a blog. The SASS Newsletter looked after by Gloria.

4. Next meeting on February 9th, the second Monday
of the month, will have guests from the Boundary Bay Quilt Guild who will be
selling raffle tickets for a beautiful quilt to raise money for their guild.
5. Donna spoke of Brookswood Days and thanked quilters for
the 45 quilts already donated since the September meeting.
6 .Susan was unable to attend, but finances are at $2273.79
with $614 insurance having been paid.
7.PROGRAM -Gloria introduced the group presenting this
month: Helen V., Lori P., Sharon G., Marette W., and Liz
P. Sharon introduced a challenge to create drawstring bags for Beads of Courage.
The organization “uses colourful beads as meaningful symbols of cancer courage
that commemorate milestones during treatment. “
The bags are to be lined for the use of bean storage for the
patients. Attached is the pattern for
the bags and further info from the website for Beads of Courage. Marette introduced the challenge. For each bag that a member sews, her name
will go into a draw. One bag equals 1
ticket. Draw to be made at the May
meeting.
8. Crescent Quilters has room for more members. Please encourage friends, etc.
9.DOOR PRIZES – Name tags – Gloria, Sherri, and Laurie
Sharesies - $17 won by Ruth.

SHOW ‘n TELL
Vivian completed the challenge quilt to be donated
Sharon completed the Crimson Xmas poinsettia pattern by
Kristu Moser
Carole Nelson completed several – animal quilt, mustang
block, modern birds block, Heron panel, panda quilt
Annette – sewed 2 colourful quilts to be donated.
Linda- asked for members advice. Thank you
10. After break, the second part of the group’s presentation
was a game using fat quarters. Two
tables were set up with one winner being Cherie, and the other being Nancy.
