Crescent Quilters
December 12, 2016
Minutes
The Christmas Party was a fun filled evening with delicious food. Thanks to Karen and her helpers and Debbie
for the program. We also had a short
business meeting:
Carolyn brought some Canadian fabric squares for the CQA blocks for Canada’s Big Quilt Bee
to be donated to Ronald McDonald Houses.
Instructions are on the CQA website. http://www.canadianquilter.com/events/quilt-canada-2017-quilting-bee.php Carolyn will bring additional fabric to the
January meeting. CQA hopes to have 1000
quilts.
Lynn has bought irons, cutting mats, and ironing boards for Brookswood Retreat Center. We approved charging $10/day with no
additional overnight charges. There is
no sign-up for Tuesdays and Wednesdays but there will be one for the
weekends. Upcoming events include Wei Hin from Euro Tech on February 18th
talking about the care of sewing machines.
Carol is organizing this. The fee
will be paid by CQ. March 29th Shelley
Tobisch is giving a workshop on perfect 1/4" seams. We need 12 members to sign up. The cost is $40. On January 25th Bea will finish the jelly roll
instructions.
Gloria brought the remaining friendship blocks. Members are still able to sign up for sewing
buddies.
Debbie outlined the upcoming programs. In January
we are to bring our favorite book,
the one that has inspired us. February
will be a discussion of organizing our
sewing room with a professional organizer.
Diane Sentra will give a
workshop using 2-1/2” strips for the March meeting. April is open. In May Terry
Aske will speak.
Show-and-Tell displayed our
vast talents. All eight of the
participating UFOers showed their work as well as Faith’s quilting of Gloria’s
work, and pieces by Nancy, Karen, and Bonnie.
