Tips to remember when cleaning your sewing machine

Most of us know that lint build up in our machine is bad. That is why it is important to try and get that lint out of your sewing machine.

Do not use compressed air in a can to blow the lint out. The lint may actually blow into smaller places and get stuck there. This can cause problems. The other reason that you shouldn't do this is becuase the compressed air also contains moisture. Adding moisture into the mechanics of your sewing machine can also cause trouble. You wouldn't want anything to go rusty.

It is much better to try vacuuming the lint out of your sewing machine. The best thing to do before you start vacuuming is to change the bag in your vacuum cleaner. That way if you heat something getting sucked into the vacuum cleaner that doesn't sound right, you can check the bag to see what is in there. Also put the suction on a low setting if possible. Generally all you need is low suction to get the lint out.

Keeping your machine lint free will help keep it running better for longer!
