May newsletter

Our meetings continue to be on hold for now.
Our hope is that the guest we were going to have this month, Rita Solkin, will available for one of our meetings in the fall to bring us her fantastic historical quilt collection and talk.

The executive commitee has been having some discussion about finances.
Our expenses for this year have been lower than we planned for because of cancelled guests. We are considering making a donation to Seniors Come Share Society. We will base our decision of how much to donate based on how many meetings have been cancelled due to Covid. Seniors Come Share is a non profit organization that benefits seniors of our community. We would like to give back to them in a monitary way. There will be an update about this next month.

We have come to the end of the batting that we purchased for community quilts. Our plan is to purchase more batting so that we can continue to offer this. We will let you know once we have more batting available.

May is the month that we ask people to renew their membership for next year.

In the past we have had a strict rule that payment is due by the end of June. Because it is likely we will not be meeting in June, the executive commitee has been trying to decide how to handle this. We need to be able to contact people on the wait list over the summer to let them know if they will be accepted into our group in the fall. That is why it is important for us to know who will be renewing their membership by the end of June. An email will be sent out sometime within the next couple of weeks asking for a reply. It will ask if you intend on renewing your Crescent Quilters' membership next year. You will be expected to say "Yes" or "No" by the end of June. Just for this one year, the date of  payment deadline will be relaxed until the date of the September meeting. The price will still be $40. More payment options will be given in the "intent to renew membership" email.

We just want to give you a friendly reminder once again -- When you are deciding if you will renew for next year, please remember there are people on the wait list that are keen to be active members of our group. If you are not sure if you will be able to attend most meetings next year, consider letting someone else take a spot in our group. When your circumstances change, you may want to put your name on the wait list for a future year.
