One of the great things about getting together with other quilters is networking of ideas. When at the outdoor Brookswood gathering, this is a stitch that we talked about. It is easy and fast. It looks great in a low contrast varigated thread or a matching thread. Most machines have this stitch built in. Try it out using a walking foot. Do a test on a practice sample first. Play with the settings. Increase the width and length of the design until you are happy with how it looks.
On a Janome machine, this was the setting used to make the stitching in the photo above.
