Minutes, Crescent Quilters Meeting, March 17, 2025

Karen D. opened the meeting and welcomed our speaker, Carola Russell and guests. (Guests: Flora S, Carol P, Louise W, Kathryn B, Jean J, Sherri V.)
Karen mentioned the thank you letter that Donna received from Peace Arch.
Executive reports:
Community Quilts: Donna has batting and labels if you need them.
Treasurer: membership renewal is coming up. Please pay your $40 by the end of May.
Choose Your Adventure project: Cherie introduced Clue 3 and showed her own quilt to date.
Program:
Workshop by Julie Faulkner, May 24th at Karen D’s complex: Julie will be instructing us how to make the Project Pouch by Annie. See Gloria’s email from February 24 entitled “CQ workshop May 24th” for a full description. The price for the workshop is $65. Please register as soon
as possible as we need at least 10 participants. Payment is due before the end of March.
April meeting program: Marette and her group will be presenting Sewing Ergonomics. They will be discussing how to set up your sewing station, ironing station and cutting station for safety and comfort. There will also be tips on storage, design walls, etc. Please be prepared to ask questions or share about ergonomically helpful tools you may have discovered.

Show and Tell:
Monika- Large quilt for nephew grey and blue
Helen- shirt protectors adult (many) and child size
Elaine- Community quilts x 2. Florals and green
Karen B - Large grey, tan, and white quilt. It was a kit from the Cloth Shop. The pattern is called "Swoon"
Carole N.- Yellow/Grey community quilt
Iris- Shirt protectors for Canuck Place (12) Red and Teal quilt and Turquoise and white quilt. Both are community quilts that she made together with her 8 year old granddaughter.
Carolyn- I spy quilt. She will keep it at her house for when her grandkids come over.
Marette- A “tell” about a Quilt show in Colwood "Sew Magic" April 4th -5th. (Close to Victoria)
Carol Peel- Baby quilt/ yellow, Taggy
blanket for travel with kids. It covers their laps and there is ribbon like tags for them to fidget with.
Program: Carola presented an interesting and fun workshop called “Scrap Happy
& Fat Quarter Friendly” plus an opportunity to shop.
Next meeting is April 14, 6:30, at Brella. Note that this is a week early due to Easter Monday. The program will be “Sewing Ergonomics” and the Fat Quarter Draw theme is Spring colours or Easter.
