Community Quilts:

Donna showed a community quilt and told us about the program. Each member is encouraged to contribute at least one community quilt each year. The quilt should be about 36 inches square, any style or colour. Donna has batting and Crescent Quilter labels.

Diane B., a past member now living in Victoria, donated 11 community quilts at a Fall meeting.

She also talked about the shirt protectors for Brella. Brella doesnt charge us for the use of their space. In return for this very significant concession, the group has gladly volunteered to make shirt protectors for Brella clients. Gloria supplies the liners for these.

o “Thank you so much for the surprise donations of lap quilts on Friday last week. They are safe in my office and will go to people who need them the most. The quilts have become a staple of some of the most compassionate services we offer through Volunteer Resources and are a much beloved warm hug for people at some of the most difficult times in their lives. As you know the quilts have always gone to long term care as a welcome to new residents shortly after they move in; we have however had to make the decision to offer the quilts to people who have little to no financial means or who find themselves alone without family support. The newest addition, to which I believe I have told you in the past, is the offering of a quilt on our vigil cart, an initiative through Volunteer Resources, that offers convenience and comfort items to families holding vigil at the bedside of a dying loved one. Sometimes the quilts are used for warmth and comfort buy grieving family members and sometimes the family uses the quilt as a means to comfort their loved one. Either way this gesture is meaningful and very impactful. The quilts are always labelled "With love from the Crescent Quilters" and we receive praise to you and your fellow quilters all the time from the recipients of your kind gesture. If you could please share our sincere thanks and appreciation with your group, it would be so greatly appreciated; in the meantime we will continue to share your love and generosity with our patients and their families through your quilts as long as you are able to provide.

With caring and gratitude we wish you and yours a peaceful holiday season, Sincerely Julie, Jenn & Melissa

    Canucks Place.

Thank you for the many shirt protectors. Karen will be delivering them this week.

Mary Jo is relinquishing her duties as Coordinator of the Shirt Protectors Program for Brella. Mary Jo told Karen that approximately 160 shirt protectors have been donated since she started in this position. Also, Brella has another facility in the Guildford area and some of the protectors are also donated to them. How nice, that we can do this.

Karen thanked Mary Jo for her contribution to the Crescent Quilters and her overseeing the Shirt Protectors donations. They are much appreciated by the staff at Brella, and all those that use them.

Karen asked for a volunteer to fill this position. Elaine B stepped up.

Social time: The doors are open at 6:30 for you to come early and socialize with other members. It was nice to see so many here. Please bring your own beverage. Thank you for those who have signed up already to bring a snack.

Volunteers are needed for April and May.
