Minutes, Crescent Quilters Meeting, April 14, 2025

Location:  Brella, Upper Level, in person meeting

Time: 6:30 to 9pm
Attendance: 21 members and one guest ( Cary O’ Malley)

Susan McLennan ran the meeting in replacement of President Karen Dalgetty who was unable to attend.  Susan welcomed our guest and others in attendance.

NEW BUSINESS:

1.       Susan spoke of the need for a new secretary as Carole is stepping down.  She asked people to think it over

2.       Susan mentioned that as of the Fall, 10 more members may join as membership is increasing to 50 from the present 40.  Members were encouraged to invite friends and others to join.

3.      Our May guest is Cathy Miller, the Singing Quilter.  Guests may attend for a $5 fee, but names must be given to Linda Carswell-Bland ahead of time to determine the number of chairs, space, and food.  You may contact Linda by either email, text or home phone as follows.  The $5 fee may be paid at the door.

4.      After executive approval, it is decided to change the year-end party in June , to a barbecue with hamburger choices, hot dog, salads, fruit etc supplied by some of the fund money raised, venue to be determined.   Further info next meeting but you will be asked to sign up for your choice of food.  If absent at the next meeting, contact Karen Dalgetty regarding choices.  BYO refreshments

5    Choose Your Own Adventure - Cherie

       This month’s choice is “film strip” or applique.  Cherie had some printed sheets  of       the design for distribution, but the info will also be sent out by either Gloria or Carole.

After this round, the quilt will measure 36” square, so you may choose to end at this point (size needed for community quilts) or add the 5^th and final border of next month’s pattern.

INFO REQUEST - Marette has a mixed fruit apple tree that needs a new home.  She is reluctant to let it go but her strata will not use it.  A good home would be much appreciated. Please let her know if interested.

PROGRAM- Gloria introduced this month’s group and theme.

Marette and her group of Lori, Annette, Jean presented Sewing Ergonomics involving sewing room set up tips, space savers, safety, height recommendations for cutting table, ironing board, and sewing machine, etc.  The hour was most informative with various useful tips.
