Crescent Quilters Meeting, May 12, 2025

Karen D. welcomed
our special speaker, Cathy Miller, the Singing Quilter. We also had seven
guests: Cathy O, Ruth, Rhoda, Elfie, Gillian, Cathie E and Pat.
Executive reports:
Community quilts: Donna brought labels and batting. If you need any of these
during the summer, give Donna a call. She also read a thank you letter for our
community quilt donations. They are very happy with the variety of styles and
sizes we have supplied.
Treasurer: Annual dues are now “due”. The dues are $40. Please pay Susan by
e-transfer (crescentquilterspayments@gmail.com) or in person.
Brookswood: 15 spaces are available. The daily fee is $8.00. Hours are
9:00 – 4:00. Please let Monika know which days you would like to attend.

June
dates: Tuesday, June 24 and Wednesday, June 25.
Membership: We would like to welcome ten new members next year. Some have
already indicated interest. If you know of anyone who would like to join us,
please forward their names to Linda CB or others on the executive.
Karen D received a thank you letter from Ladner
Village Quilters Society, thanking us for letting them attend our meeting and
showcase their quilt.
Secretary
position: As you
know, Carole is stepping down from being Secretary, in June. If anyone is
interested in stepping up to the position, please come and talk to Karen or
anyone on the executive. (Carole says it is a pretty easy job and its fun
working with the executive.)

BBQ:
Date and time: June 16, 6:30 pm.
Place: Karen’s Clubhouse: 2672 151
St. Surrey. (Karen’s phone: 604-541-9944)
With the money from Purdy’s
Fundraising, we will be purchasing the food and sundries for the evening.
Food: You will have a choice of Beef,
Chicken, or Veggie Burger or a Beef Hot Dog.
There will be salads and dessert.
Beverages: Lemonade and water will be
supplied. If you want to bring wine, or
your own beverage, feel free to do so. BYOB.
Plates, cutlery, condiments, glasses
will be provided.
Bring a lawn chair if you have one so
you can sit on the grass. We have
folding chairs if you want to sit on the deck or inside the clubhouse.
There is a sign-up sheet on the
table, please sign up tonight if you can, so we can have the approx.
numbers. If you don’t know until closer
to the time, you can always email Karen with your preference of food.
Please let Karen know by the June
12 cutoff date.
“Choose
Your Own Adventure”: Cherie explained the next (and last) step on the quilt
and showed us her “in process” quilt. Gloria has emailed the instrutions.

Nancy brought a lovely quilt she
quilted herself.
Carolyn showed us the hot pink and citrus quilt she made for
her grand-daughter’s graduation.
Program: We were treated to an entertaining
and informative evening of quilts and songs by
Cathy Miller, the Singing Quilter. Cathy has recorded 8 albums of quilt related
songs and travelled extensively collecting quilt stories. Don’t miss “A hundred
ways to hide your stash” or “The one with the most fabric wins”. It was
delightful.

6th Avenue, New Westminster. Friday 10-5, Saturday 10-4. Admission $10.
June 1 and June 3: Craft
Supply Swap at Surrey Public Libraries: Clayton Branch, June 1. Ocean Park
branch, June 3. Declutter your craft room this spring! Drop off clean, reusable
arts and crafts supplies to share with others. Pick up new materials on the day
of the swap. Try a new craft, save money, and keep unused items out of the
landfill. You do not need to donate to participate.
