MEETING:
The president, Karen Dalgetty opened the meeting by welcoming everyone.
She introduced the new members – Elaine Hayes, Cary O’Malley, Peggy Johnsen and Sherri Vegsund (absent). Lynne Johnson was also welcomed back (absent).
Members were asked to check over the members list at the door, to make sure their personal information was correct and to add cell phone numbers if they wished.
Introduction of Executive :
Treasurer: Susan spoke of the club’s good financial health with approximately $4500 on the ledgers with all members paid up.
Brookswood Days: Monika outlined the arrangement which is in the new member’s booklet. Every month is a 2 or 3 day retreat at Brookswood Centre whereby members bring their machines, lunch, and spend the days sewing in the company of other members. Cost is a yearly $30 fee in addition to $8 per day in attendance. September’s dates are 23rd and 24th.
Community Quilts: Donna spoke of the 36” to 38” quilts that members make for residential care. The residents are able to pick their quilts. Batting and a label are available – let Donna know. This meeting brought in 12 quits!
Door Prizes – Annette
Secretary – Linda requested that people give their full names when showing a quilt or winning prizes to enable her to record correctly!!! She also thanked Carole (absent) for her assistance in the transition, Karen for her hard work, and the executive in general.

Membership -Sarah – we have room for more members if you know of anyone who would like to join.

Fundraiser – We will be selling Purdys chocolates again this year, as it was very profitable last year. Information and catalogues forthcoming
GAME:
Following the informative part of the meeting, Karen D. introduced a game.
Members were divided into 5 teams with a member of each team participating at one of the stations. Stations were as follows all of 1 minute duration:
1. Wearing oven mitts, place as many pins as possible in an orange pin cushion
2. Unstitch with a seam ripper previously made samples
3. Roll a five foot measuring tape into a ball
4. Stack as many buttons as possible without toppling
5. Race a bobbin without going off the table top
Team 1 won with Sarah, Carey, Paula, Ruth, Lynn and Liz
After a short social break the meeting resumed with the draws:

Nancy F – Liberty of London angle quilt with white background
Cherie - mystery quilt; 2 “I Spy” quilt donations
Linda C-B -mystery quilt; 2 landscape donation quilts,;hexagon quilt
Elaine H – purple/navy/white plaid quilt; basically blue quilt made with half square triangle
Cindy S.- orphan block green/turquoise quilt; maple leaf quilt; layer cake quilt in green with pink and red blocks; tote bag
Ruth P – grey/coral space quilt for grandson; green/black hockey quilt; X’s and O’s quilt in pink for granddaughter
Sarah – heart quilt; Joshua tree quilt
Helen V – many children’s bibs that are donated to Canucks Place in Abbotsford; adult shirt protectors for Brella
Carey O -diamond shaped quilt in white/beige
Helen M-blue/white/grey checkered quit; black and white squares quilt
PROGRAMS for 2025
Gloria introduced the programs for the year and who was in which group. Groups are also asked to bring goodies the month of presenting. Groups met
to discuss their presentation and at 9pm, it was noted that both October and November would be having a guest speaker – either in person or by Zoom.
OCTOBER MEETING – leader Karen B
Guest: Bill Stearman from Pickton, Ontario
Bill has won several major awards I quilt shows across North America and the United Kingdom.
Bring a guest for $5.00 to the meeting to hear Bill’s stiry and show off the Guild at the same time.
Bill Stearnman has requested that his presentation be by donation only. A donation box will be at the sign in desk.
