Program:

Bill Stearman spoke and gave a video presentation of his journey as quilt maker, storyteller, and social activist living and working in Pickton, Ontario.

His quilts address topics of depression, death, abuse, Queer issues, social justice etc. His hope is that folks will see his work as true and honest; something that matters; something that will make a difference. This journey takes him across Canada and into the North interviewing people for their stories . To add to his video presentation, Bill brought 25 of his quilts to share with us.

Bill told the guild about the True Colours Quilt Along. As part of his tour, he has gifted eleven fat quarters for our group to participate in the Quilt Canada 2025 True Colours Quilt Along. Lisa Slutsken has the fabrics and will be looking for 10-12 volunteers at the November meeting to help assemble the blocks and the quilt. More information about the Quilt Along can be found at https://canadian quilter.com/truecolourssqal/

His deeply moving and meaningful presentation was given a standing ovation.

Next Meeting – Monday, November 17th with guest speaker via Zoom
