 Crescent Quilters’ Meeting Minutes – March 16, 2026

President, Karen D. welcomed new member Linda M.

Meeting:

1. BBQ/Garage Sale will be held on June 15th at Brella. Food paid for by the Purdy’s fund raiser. Bring your own drink.

2. Garage Sale – will try to commence at 5:30pm. Sellers, please bring your wares between 5 and 5:15. Thank you to Lisa for volunteering to help. There are 3 of us to place your goods according to fabric, notions, books etc. Please bear with us as this is the first time this format has been tried. (Successful elsewhere). Attached is the info regarding what sellers need to do with your items and also what a buyer needs to do. This will be fun and a welcome turnover of “goods”????

3. Facebook – 26 members thus far. You must be approved to go on Facebook, nothing political, ideas of interest to others, contact group – Crescent Quilters – ask to join.

4. Most of the executive is willing to continue with their respective jobs next year; however, Karen as president, and Gloria as programme chair, wish to retire from these positions. Please consider stepping up to the “plate”, so to speak.

5. Gloria has organized a “Scrap Happy” workshop at Annette’s complex on April 11th. Cost is $15. One position remains open. Please contact Gloria if interested.

6. Reminder to continue with the Beads Bags. Sharron collects and Marette stores. Every bag gives you a ticket in a draw in May. Two months still to get the bags donated and your name in the draw.

7. Canucks’ Place Abbotsford have enough bibs for the moment. New bibs will go to Canucks’ Place Vancouver. Bib workshop was very successful . Thank you ladies for this effort.

8. Lisa Slutsken showed us the quilt pieces that will form the “True Colours Quilt Along” quilt from our guild. She has the pieces joined but waiting on one square to complete the quilt. Thank you, Lisa for taking on this project.

Motion – to increase fees to $45 for next year. Passed. Treasurer Susan spoke of present monies now over $ 2000 but with speakers receiving more money, and insurance rates increasing, higher fees are necessary.

Draws – Sharzees $17 went to Jean H.

Door Prizes went to Roz, Lisa, and Sara

Show and Tell – 11 members showed quilts, bibs, Styrofoam etc as follows:

Sarah N. – daughter’s tapestry made as a memorial to her nanny, Francis MacQueen, Sarah’s Mom

Lisa S – purple circle quilt

Vivian – paper pieced pillow and leather bag made by her daughter.

Donna M.- tea cup quilt

Helen V – 15 bibs, 6-7 larger bibs, green quilt with border

Karen B – purple quilt/ greens

Carole N.- blue/turquoise panels; flowers with green; embroidered quilt on light denim; cappuccino brown quilt

Sharron – yellow with navy Hawaiian fabric quilt

Marrette- offered styrofoam, solid blocks to anyone who can use them

Mary Jo – pink quilt with squares

Linda C-B- twin sails art quilt; hand painted on fabric table runner
