Crescent Quilter’s Meeting Minutes – November 19, 2025

Meeting was led by Gloria Friesen filling in for president Karen Dalgetty who was unable to attend.
Guest Presentation – Terry Roland
Order of meeting was changed to accommodate the guest speaker who was presenting via zoom. Caroline S. introduced our guest Terry Roland – a scrap quilter of quilts and wearable art. In addition to giving presentations, Terry assists customers on finishing quilts, teaches beginner collage and paper piecing. A complicated quilt – colour wash – is a free classroom, on You-Tube channel, available to all. T Roland Studios on Facebook is where to find her info. Thanks to the group who co-ordinated this month’s presentation.
Meeting:
1. Gloria thanked Marette Williams who informed members of a recycling site at 13120 – 78A Avenue, Surrey. They sort the fabric for re-purposing.
2. Linda requested that members check their phone numbers regarding cell phone or/and landline. Updated member’s list to be sent out with these minutes.
3. Brookswood Senior Membership for 2026 is now due. Fee is $30 for January to December 2026. E-transfer email is : crescentquilterpayments@gmail.com Please note funds are for Brookswood and include your name.
4. Purdy’s sales have been going well with the 27th the deadline and distribution on the 8th at the Xmas party. So far, the Crescent Quilters have raised $397 from sales.
5. Christmas Party – December 8th – 6:00 PM at Karen’s home at 2531 156 St. Parking is limited. Food is from Red Rose and costs $16 with members to pay $10 with the rest subsidised from last year’s Purdy’s fundraiser. No gift exchange, instead prizes will be awarded for several games. Thus far, 20 members have signed up for the party. Also, Karen will be collecting money for the Food Bank, if you are interested.
NOTE: a piano player is needed to play a few simple carols for all to sing.
6. “COLOUR QUILT” – Lisa S. received a package of fabrics from last month’s presenter to quilt 12 blocks towards the Colour Quilt. Lisa organized all blocks into packages with the exact pieces of fabric needed - all cut to the correct dimensions. She advised members to check their pieces carefully. Lisa would like the squares to be completed by February for her to join them together. Members signed up for the
square that they were interested in making. Thank you, Lisa for your wonderful organization of this activity.
7. Draws : Sharezee – Donna M with $14

Thanks to Karen B for looking after the name tag and Sharezee for Lynn who was absent.
8. January program was introduced by Marette. Group is doing 2 things: first is a challenge followed with a prize to be drawn in May; second idea concerns the left, centre, right brain!! Members are asked to bring 3 fat quarters with a spring theme such as flowers, light colours, pinks, greens etc. Reason is that whoever wins the fabric, will be able to make something from the fabric that is similar in nature.
9. Show and Share – 5 people showed their quilts. Shelagh presented 5 quilts she had made for community quilts; Donna M showed a pinwheel style quilt; Betty presented 2 quilts, Deb M showed a scrap quilt made for Covenant House and a community quilt, Helen Virgo showed several bibs and a quilt. Pictures will be on the website later.
Meeting adjourned at 9pm.
NOTE - desserts are requested for the Xmas party. Two people have so far offered a dessert.
