Community Quilts

- lead by Diane B.
How it works
Every month the Crescent Quilters are supplied with a new set of instructions.
The first month entails selecting the fabric, the second month cutting the fabric. The third month involves starting to sew. Directions are continued every month until the quilt top is complete. The quilt is usually considered a "lap size". They are approximately 36" x 36". The quilts are to be made of cotton for the top and backing. The batting may be cotton, flannel, or polyester.
It is a "Mystery Quilt" so nobody has any idea what the finished quilt will look like until they receive the final set of instructions. It is fun to see the unknown unfold as you are making it.
Add a label to the back of the quilt. Completed quilts are then returned to Diane. Once a year she takes the completed quilts to an extended care home in the community. The director of the care facility gives the quilts to new residents when they arrive as a welcome gift.
*NEW* QUILT BATTING IS AVAILABLE FROM DIANE (or you may use your own)

It is satisfying to give to others in the community! The clients as well as visitors and the staff enjoy loooking at the quilts.

Did you know... Crescent quilters have proudly stitched several hundred of these over the history of the group!  Giving these quilts helps support our non profit status.

It is interesting to see different color combinations that people choose. They are all so Beautiful!

You may also submit any quilt that you make as a community quilt. It does not have to be the mystery quilt.
