The scoop on Brookswood

As members of the Crescent Quilters group, we are very fortunate to have the opportunity to have special time slots reserved for us at Brookswood Senior Center. This is a special place that we go to.
It is a place for us to get our 'Quilting Therapy'. While we quilt, we visit with each other. Friendships are formed, and become stronger the more often you participate. We also help each other out when quilting questions come up. If you participate in these days you will experience a sense of community and sharing. Every Crescent Quilter member is welcome to join these special times that are reserved for us. It does not matter what your quilting level is. Beginners to experts are all welcome! The room is spacious, and has many plugs to use for our sewing machines. There are ironing boards and irons available to use. Bring your own sewing machine and project to work on. There is also a kitchen with a fridge to keep our lunches. There is a kettle, coffee maker, and microwave for us to use. We have all of the dates booked ahead until the end of 2019.

In order to take advantage of this great opportunity, you need to also become a member of Brookswood Senior Center. The membership goes from January to January, and is $30 per year.
Lynne M. is the Co-ordinator of the Brookswood dates, and also collects money for Brookswood memberships. Pro-rated memberships are available if you wish to join now before January.
In addition to the $30 per year membership, there is also a $5 per day drop in fee.  There is no sign up sheet to attend day retreats. There are sign up sheets for Spring and Fall three day retreats. There may be additional fees for workshops at the retreats. Class sizes for retreats may be restricted, and will be first sign up, first allowed to attend.  Information about class workshops at retreats will be given in advance at CQ meetings. (Not every three day retreat has a class workshop). We have purchased insurance to cover us and our belonging at these events. You may leave your machines overnight during these events. (additional information on workshop deposits etc. are in the CQ guidelines.)

You may bring a guest once per CQ year. A guest is a non CQ member, and must be invited by a CQ member. Each guest may only attend once (not once per year).   The only exception to this will be if you have an out of town guest that has attended another year, and they want to come again. This must be cleared with Lynne M. though.

If the guest likes our group and requests to come again, you can assist them to get on the waiting list to become a CQ member.    Contact Lynne M in advance if you are wanting to bring a guest. Only two guests will be allowed per date. It will be first reserved, first allowed for the guests to attend. If the room is crowded, please share your own table with your guest.
